Heat back on — safely — when the cold snap hits.
A furnace almost always warns you before it quits — short cycling, a burner that lights and drops out, a blower that runs cold, a rumble at startup, or a rising gas bill for the same amount of comfort. The HVAC Doc repairs gas and electric furnaces throughout Overland Park and Johnson County, and we treat heating calls as safety calls first.
Common failures we resolve include failed igniters and flame sensors, pressure-switch and inducer-motor faults, dirty or misaligned burners, limit switches tripping on restricted airflow, bad blower capacitors, and control boards that have lost their sequence. Plenty of "dead" furnaces are actually a filter so loaded that the system is protecting itself.
Every heating repair includes a combustion-safety check. We inspect the heat exchanger for cracking, confirm the flue is drafting properly, and verify that no carbon monoxide is spilling into your living space. If we find a cracked heat exchanger we will tell you plainly and shut the system down — that is not a repair to negotiate with.
You get the diagnosis, the cause, and the price before the wrench comes out. We stock the common failure parts on the truck so most repairs finish in a single visit, and we will always tell you when an old furnace is better replaced than nursed through another Kansas winter.
