Sealed sheet-metal trunk duct and flexible branch runs in an attic

A perfectly good furnace or air conditioner can still leave you uncomfortable if the ductwork cannot deliver what it produces. Leaky, undersized, crushed or badly routed ducts are behind most of the hot-and-cold-room complaints The HVAC Doc hears in Overland Park and across the metro.

Leakage is the biggest offender. Duct runs through attics, crawlspaces and unconditioned basements routinely lose a meaningful share of the conditioned air they carry through open seams, disconnected boots and failed cloth tape — air you paid to heat or cool, dumped into a space nobody lives in. Sealing with mastic and proper mechanical connections puts that capacity back into the rooms.

Design matters just as much as sealing. Long flex runs kinked around framing, returns far too small for the system, trunk lines that were never resized after a remodel, and supply registers fighting each other all show up the same way: one stubborn room that sits several degrees off from the rest of the house no matter what the thermostat says.

We evaluate the whole system — static pressure, register airflow, return capacity and the physical condition of the runs — then repair, seal, resize or rebuild what actually needs it. If one room in your house has never been comfortable, this is usually the reason, and it is usually fixable for far less than a new system.

What This Includes
